About

Welcome to my blog!

As you can see, I love books and anything to do with them. However, I don’t really classify this blog as a “book blog,” since it is so much more than that! Here you’ll find book reviews, yes – but you’ll also find awesome kindle deals and other resources for where to buy and snag cheap (or completely free) books; stunning images of libraries, bookstores, and other reading spaces; booklists; new book finds, book hauls, and so much more! You’ll also find a wide and varying array of music – because I love music – which I usually post on Mondays and Saturdays.

I also host Blog (Book) Tours, Giveaways, Author Interviews, Cover Reveals, and so many other fun events. You can check them out on my Events page.

And for the entire list of all the goodies found here on Reckless Indulgence, you should definitely check out my Features page. That’s where all the magic is. 😉 Any authors or publishers looking to request a book review from me, or ask me to host a book tour, giveaway, or guest post, please read my Review Policy first and fill out the form at the bottom of the page.

Read the Printed Word!

Reckless Indulgence is a personal blog about books, reading, and the written word.

I wish I could say it will always be interesting, exciting, and full of new and fascinating book wonders—

But I won’t.

Sometimes you’ll like what I post here. Sometimes you won’t.

That’s just how it’s gonna be.

Important sections to check out on this site:

→ Mostly mentioned already. Check out the menu bar. In particular, my Book Reviews and Rating System, Features page, Review Policy, Contact info, and Frequently Used Terms and Phrases aka My Lingo List, where you’ll find a bunch of the words I use on a day-to-day basis. It’s important you check this out occasionally. Could save you the humiliation (and me, the irritation) of asking embarrassingly obvious questions about what this is or that. 😉

→ I used to have a TBR (To Be Read) list on this blog, but I’ve found it’s almost impossible to maintain. Instead, if you want to see what I’m reading, suggest some titles I should read next, or just become reading buddies with me, check out my GOODREADS ACCOUNT. 🙂

→ All mah Book Reviews, which will undoubtedly be a lot of TBBR (Totally Biased Book Reviews), so proceed at your own risk! XD I like to differentiate between them like this: there are some things you can read and give a professional, even academic, review and commentary on. Then there are other things that make you go:

“WSALJNFsknKLGNKLnslknDSlkngkSDSDSaDnsklgnlgndlsdGSDNJKLSGNDJGSNSarrrrRRRRRRGGHH!!!”

😀 That’s where the TBBRs come in. XD I will freak out more in those, and probably not even make any sense. But that’s the beauty of it~

For your convenience, I’ve archived all reviews by title, genre, and star rating.

Quiltbag Lit: this is a genre, topic, theme, and reckless indulgence close to my heart. You can browse:

→ The 10 Books That Have Stayed With You challenge. I’d love it if you’d enter! It’s simple and straightforward. Also, for those who have more than 10 books to list, 10 Books That Have Stayed With You (And Five More For Good Measure) might be the better fit for you. It’s the same principle, so you have nothing to lose! Eventually there will be other challenges and memes and polls, so keep checking back!

→ Check out the Conventions, Book Signings, And Other Book Events for anything I might hear about and want to share with you. It’s mostly centralize to the US, but occasionally I’ll write a post or two about international events as well. If you have any events you’d like me to mention here, just email me at recklessindulgence@gmail.com. For virtual events I host for book tour companies, authors, and publishers, check out the Events page in the menu bar.

→ Reading Resources & Downloads where I collect potentially helpful and useful resources for finding books, articles, webcomics, and more. Also downloads, because who doesn’t like instant, free stuff right?

[Written As of May 15th, 2014]

Right now, there might not be much in these areas, but be assured that posts will be coming soon enough to fill each section.

I don’t post on a particular schedule of any kind, but I will definitely post at least once a week – probably more than once a week, if I can find the time. Between work, interning, and my novel writing, I’m never in one place for very long… So it can be a big challenge finding someplace quiet to sit down, think up and write out a post, and then post the sucker while I still have the energy to do it (or really, before something or someone tries to drag me away for something else again).

Which is why you’ll most likely find me posting at night. LATE… at night. Like 12, 1, 2, 3, 4, even 5 o’clock in the morning. And randomly in the morning hours.

And the middle of the day.

And afternoons.

And—well… I think you get the picture.

Hi! I just published a book and am looking for people to review it. I see that you post book reviews, so I thought you might be interested in receiving a free copy to review. (Sorry if this sounds like a spammy comment, I couldn’t find a contact form on your page!)

It’s called Kiss of The Fey, and here is the description:

King Xenos has a heart cold as ice from a childhood curse, so how is it that he is the only one who could save Princess Johara? Johara thinks there must be a mistake when Xenos takes her north to be his queen, but the rest of her life must be spent living in a gloomy castle with a cold husband. However, things might not all be as they appear. Xenos’s passion is nothing close to cold, and Johara knows there is more to his curse than he’s telling her. Will Johara turn to ice when pressured with the cold, or will Xenos set her heart aflame?

If you’re interested, I can send you a free PDF copy for you to review. Have a nice day!

Hello! Thank you for considering me as a reviewer of your book. Sorry for the confusion regarding how to contact me. I am in the process of updating this site with a few more necessities… Like a contact and review policy page. 🙂

While I am a bit backed-up with other ARCs, I can never turn down another book to read. XD If you don’t mind waiting a couple weeks for my review, I’ll happily accept a copy of your book.
