Tomorrow, We’re Starting ~Our~ Version Of HauntoberFest! Today… we dance!

Well, well, well! Hullo everyone~

How crazy is it that it’s the end of the month already?? I literally had a panic attack this morning when I realized it wasn’t the 29th, but THE 30TH (JFC HOW DID THAT HAPPEN???) I had plans for today! Like making y’all an AWESOME SAMPLE PLAYLIST to jam out to in preparation for….

But I’ll get to that later.

I (hope) you all remember seeing my post from last week about a new event I’m hosting called “HauntoberFest.” If not, then here’s a reminder again.

If you’d like to participate and join in on the fun, you can SIGN UP HERE.

There are two ways you can participate:

Showcase a different book each day for the entire month of October. That’s 31 books in 31 days!

Can you do it?

You only need to showcase them, not review them if you don’t want to. Of course, if you HAVE read the book, a brief review or why you think it’s great (or not so great) would be most appreciated.

In your post, you need to have:

  1. Title, Author, Page Count, and a Synopsis or Description of the book
  2. Book Cover
  3. What caught your eye about the book — or if you read it — what you love/hate about it, a favourite passage or quote, something to lure readers in
  4. Why you think others should read it during the month of October
  5. OPTIONAL: Pair it with music or find some way to showcase some haunting tunes throughout the month.

…or, OPTION 2

Read and post a review of horror-esque, macabre, creepy, spooky, dark romance, and/or Gothic books.

  1. You can set any number goal you want, but the minimum is 5 (one book a week) and the max is 31(one for every day).
  2. The books you review DO NOT have to be read during the month of October. You can start from now, or maybe re-read a book from years ago and review it. Whatever your fancy. Just make sure to indicate somewhere in your post that it was read/reviewed for this challenge.
  3. OPTIONAL: As in the first option, you can pair these reviews with music or find some way to showcase some haunting tunes throughout the month.

Choose whichever option works best for you. Obviously one of them is more time consuming than the other, so pick wisely!

I didn’t quite explain this before, but the books you choose DO NOT have to be only Halloween themed books. They can be anything you can justify for reading during the month of October. So that includes, (although in no way limited to):

  • Horror and Horror-esque books (or Anything That Evokes Terror and Fear)
  • Macabre
  • Creepy & Spooky tales
  • Dark Romance and/or Gothic tales
  • Comedic, Campy, and Whimsical tales with a slight morbid or ghastly twist (Because Halloween isn’t all about horror and fright. There’s a good deal of fun lovin’ going on as well.)
  • Ghost Stories
  • Gorey, Violent stories (that make us question ever leaving our houses at night. Or… y’know.. EVER.)
  • Books that take place around Halloween or Autumn (and hopefully have some relevance…)
  • And, of course, classic Halloween tales

These are just some suggestions. So, if you can give a good reason for why we should read a particular book during October/Halloween, then go for it! I’m truly excited to see what you all come up with!

And now, without further adieu — I did promise you all music, after all — here’s a little taste of some of the music you can expect to hear over the next month. Hope you love dance party weekends as much as I do. Here we go!
