Sigur Ros are, like Bjork last week, one of those bands that I’ve just never gotten around to checking out. I listened to the first half of what I think is their most acclaimed album, Agaetis Byrjun, a couple of months ago but to be honest I’ve never really been in the mood for post-rock since that. I’ve been listening to loads of punk and indie recently so it would be a bit jarring to transfer immediately to the ethereal falsettos and expansive sound of Sigur Ros!

Anyway, this song is truly beautiful. Sigur Ros are one of those bands that make music that sounds truly alien yet somehow it manages to connect with you in a deep way. This track is much more ‘rock’ than anything I’ve heard from them. That’s not a negative at all by any means and I really, really love this song. The video a perfect fit too. Thanks so much for sharing the song, I appreciate it! You have a great taste in music!

I get what you’re saying, even if I could never really feel the same. I don’t actually think I can be jarred by music of different genres playing one after the other. The song I might simply not like… but if I like something, I will listen to it. Even if it’s right after a crazy jpop dance song. Sometimes unlike things go soooo well together. 🙂

Totally agree! The first time I heard Sigur Ros I thought it was utterly transcendent. I couldn’t stop feeling like their song was floating out in space and taking me right along with it.

Thanks for the lovely comment! 😀 I’m glad you’re enjoying the music I’m putting up recently. If you want to see any other Reckless Beats, tune in on Mondays and Saturdays which are generally the two days I indulge in musical exploits and share with my readers~
